Creek Steel
Fly Fishing for Steelhead in the Pacific NW

I was in the sun, water in the shade, temps cool, leaves colored. The river was dropping after a day or two of rain and was in perfect shape with just a little color. It's still low enough that wading was easy. Went 2 for 3 with both fish caught in the same tailout about 5 minutes apart. I missed the first after yanking it out of his mouth. Then I buckled down and concentrated on patience. Just felt a slight tap, let the loop go, and then set the hook. It's hard to let go when you feel that tug rather than the natural reaction to yank it home. I've been losing too many fish due to bad habits. Practice helps. Couldn't have asked for a better fall day.
